Daily Thanks, Day 10: TV and Opportunity

Sunday, November 10

My husband and I met in a TV newsroom. One summer he started as the new News Director at a station where I was a producer. A little more than two years later, I left TV and took my career in a different direction. That was almost 10 years ago.

There’s a story out of Spokane right now that has made international news, at least according to our local stations. It’s a talker, and has sparked a few conversations around our house the past few days, the last week or so. On Sunday it became particularly interesting to me, and I got excited, enthusiastic, engaged like I used to – but in a way I rarely do anymore.

Today I’m thankful for The Voice. Or, more precisely, that The Voice is changing.

I have said this before, but I’ll say it again, being that it’s the month of giving thanks.

I am so, so thankful that I am in an industry where it’s possible to work from home. But what’s more - that I have a skill set I can use to barter.

Sometimes I forget how courageous I am.

Okay, it’s worse than that. I completely downplay any courage I may have.

Tuesday, November 5

Today I am thankful for voting.

That’s not to say I’m only thankful for my right to vote, but I’m also thankful that I take the responsibility seriously, and that I do so as an informed participant in the process.
